Baby found on Chicago's North Side

Authorities say an abandoned baby girl has been found outside in the vestibule of an apartment on the city's North Side.

The Chicago Police Department says a passer-by found the baby wrapped in a blanket and called paramedics around 8:30 p.m.

The temperature was around zero degrees in Chicago on Monday night.

Paramedics transported the baby to Children's Memorial Hospital. Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford says the child is doing well.

He says hospital officials think she's a few days old.
