Pet Rescue passed many inspections

I am writing on behalf of Pet Rescue to respond to a recent letter to the editor by Sharon Seremek.

Pet Rescue provides a no-kill animal shelter. You should know that I am an attorney for Pet Rescue, but you should also know that I am working on a pro bono basis, and not charging any fee.

My reason for doing so is my belief that Pet Rescue saves hundreds of animals a year that would otherwise be on the street or be killed. Ms. Seremek's description of unsanitary, unhealthy conditions at Pet Rescue is false and grossly distorts the truth. How do you know who to believe? Consider these facts.

Pet Rescue has been inspected more than 20 times this year, primarily by the Illinois Department of Agriculture, but also by police and officials from Bloomingdale. Some of these inspections were routine and some were triggered by complaints which were then determined to be unfounded.

Pet Rescue passed these inspections.

Indeed, Ms. Seremek complains that "inspections of the shelter turn up nothing." Right, neutral government officials look at Pet Rescue and do not see what Ms. Seremek claims is there.

Unfortunately, Ms. Seremek and others who have been complaining loudly about Pet Rescue are costing the taxpayers and Pet Rescue hundreds of hours of time and tens of thousands of dollars, time and money which would be far better used for constructive purposes.
