DUI crackdown in Elmhurst
Elmhurst police have increased patrols as part of a crackdown on drunken drivers. The crackdown will continue through Jan. 4, authorities said. The enforcement campaign is being funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Red light enforcement in Carol Stream
Starting Friday, Dec. 26, motorists caught on camera disobeying the traffic signal along eastbound North Avenue at Kuhn Road will be issued tickets. The Carol Stream Police Department activated the red light camera at that location Dec. 11 but has only been issuing warnings. The 14-day warning period ends Dec. 26. In the coming week, red light cameras will be activated along eastbound and westbound North Avenue at Gary Avenue. Blood drive in Lombard
The village of Lombard, in cooperation with Heartland Blood Centers, will host its first blood drive of the year on Wednesday, Jan. 7. The event will run from 12:30 to 7 p.m. in the community room at village hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave. Everyone is required to show a photo ID when donating blood. All donors will be entered into a drawing for five $100 gasoline gift cards.
