Flag represents U.S., not politicians
I believe our flag represents what being "American" is. My flag represents any and all that believe in what it stands for. If I am German, Italian, Polish, Hispanic, or Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, black, white, yellow or purple, I can be an American.
It represents all our freedoms and rights. It represents the history of this country, some good, and some bad. It represents the fact we are not perfect but continue to try to improve. It is a promise to protect us to the best of its ability.
It does not represent any current government administration or past or future administration, it represents a form of government called democracy, where we are able to elect our own leaders. It also represents all the men and women who have defended her. Most important, it represents the men and women who gave their lives serving her.
In the past and I am sure in the future, I have not always been proud of the actions of some, and I would need to include myself. I have never been ashamed or embarrassed to be an American.
It does not and never will represent the actions of individuals. Regardless of the opinions of any person, religion, or country, I have always been and always will be proud to be an American.
