Bad economy affects teens, too
In regard to your "It's Time to Focus on Needs, Not Wants" article on Nov. 19, 1 would like to express a teen's view on today's economy.
Reading this article I understand the crisis that the country has, as well as what all taxpaying citizens endorse on a daily basis. As a working teen, just four or five months ago I was able to work and make enough money to support the simple things that a teenager does on a weekly basis. Due to the economy, though, my hours, as well as my gross income, have been affected - as have my weekly activities.
I was able to save a little money and was able to go to movies and afford a shopping spree here and there, but that has all come to a screeching halt. I now find myself trying to save all money I make toward college and that first car I dream of.
With the economy the way it is, not only do I feel the pinch on my income, but also I must witness the stress and difficulties that this has on my parents.
All in all, I hope that local and federal governments find a way to address the ailing economy so that as a teenager I am able to enjoy those simple things that all teenagers work for on a weekly basis.
