Arlington Heights
• A 48-year-old woman was robbed of her purse around 12:50 a.m. Dec. 14 on the 200 block of East Palatine Road by a man who grabbed it off her shoulder. He was with three or four other men; they had sold the woman a baseball cap a few minutes earlier in a nearby gas station. The men left in a gold car and the woman walked east on Palatine Road; the car pulled up next to her and one of the men got out of the car and grabbed her purse. The woman was not injured.
• Elizabeth A. Schmidtke, 24, of the 6000 block of Browns Parkway, Loves Park, and Edison J. Gorgees, 27, of the 2300 block of West Foster, Chicago, were arrested around 3:50 a.m. Dec. 15; Gorgees was charged with soliciting a prostitute and Schmidtke was charged with prostitution at a hotel on the 0-100 block of West Algonquin Road. Officers were called to the hotel by employees who heard Schmidtke and Gorgees arguing. Police found him at a nearby gas station. Their court date is Jan. 22.
• Gerardo Ayala-Cervantes, 18, of the 400 block of West Touhy Avenue, Des Plaines, and Leaveil J. Pittman, 18, of the 500 block of West Touhy Avenue, Des Plaines, were arrested around 10:25 p.m. Dec. 14 in a condominium parking lot on the 1400 block of East Central Road and charged with three counts of burglary to motor vehicle. Ayala-Cervantes also was charged with possession of burglary tools and marijuana. Police accuse them of breaking into a 1994 Geo Prizm, 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander and a Chrysler Sebring looking for GPS units. Their court date is Jan. 20.
• Vandals scratched graffiti into a storage room door at the Red Roof Inn, 22 W. Algonquin Road, between Dec. 7-9, and left two small bags of cocaine on the floor. Damage was estimated at $20.
• Two windows were smashed on a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup parked on Eastman east of Salem between midnight and 8 a.m. Dec. 13. Nothing appeared missing; a damage estimate was not available.
• A 2007 Nissan Sentra in a fitness center parking lot on the 900 block of West Dundee Road was broken into between 5:20-6:20 p.m. Dec. 14; a purse was stolen. The loss was estimated at $30.
Rolling Meadows
• Vandals spray painted graffiti on the side of a portable toilet at a construction site at 3321 Algonquin Road between Dec. 5-7. A damage estimate was not available.
• John M. Langland, 61, of the 1800 block of North Highland Avenue, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 11:50 a.m. Dec. 11 on Plum Grove Road at Euclid Avenue and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving while license revoked, failure to yield, and illegal transportation of open alcohol after police say he collided with another vehicle. His court date is Jan. 8.
• Two men stole a 19-inch computer monitor and mobile printer, total value $450, Dec. 6 from Staples Office Supply, 1551 Algonquin Road, and left through a rear door, setting off an alarm. The same men are believed to have stolen nine computer video cards valued at $900 Nov. 24.
• A red dress and two pieces of jewelry were stolen out of a 1991 Mazda Protege on the 3200 block of Kirchoff Road between 9 p.m. Dec. 12 and 7 a.m. Dec. 13. Loss was estimated at $45.
