Blagojevich may get free defense
How Gov. Rod Blagojevich might foot the bill to defend himself on criminal and impeachment charges may have become clearer Friday with at least one defense attorney indicating he is willing to work for free.
Sam Adam Jr. told reporters following the governor's statements Friday, "Pay me. Don't pay me. I'm in it with him all the way."
Federal investigators have indicated they may move to freeze the governor's campaign fund, potentially making it off limits to pay for his defense, which is likely to cost millions of dollars.
The campaign fund had more than $3 million in it according to the most recent disclosure reports.
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan rejected a move this week to have taxpayers cover the tab for Blagojevich's defense.
Adam is one leg in a three-man defense team that includes high-profile attorney Ed Genson, who recently defended celebrity R. Kelly, and Sheldon Sorosky, a longtime Blagojevich friend.
