Pols had chance voters should decide
The result of last week's arrest of our Democrat governor has made Illinois a national embarrassment. To add to the situation, Democrat leaders initially supported a special election to fill the vacant U.S. Senate seat and now have flip-flopped stating that Blagojevich's lieutenant governor should make this appointment. How can we trust them to make the right decisions? They are attempting to tell us that the reason for not having a special election is because it will cost too much. This is nothing but good ole' scare tactics. Make sure to ask these individuals how they come up with these figures. You never get a straight answer. I believe this special election could coincide with the already-scheduled municipal/township elections this spring, cutting costs considerably. Finally, nearly 70 percent of Illinois voters support a special election. This is the people's Senate seat! Not another opportunity to springboard a politician by a backroom deal. Enough is enough. Now is the time act! Contact your legislators and let them know that you want a choice and a voice.
