D-C grad Thornton earns NCCAA All-American status

Gaining her second all-American award this season, Judson University junior Christina Thornton, a Dundee-Crown graduate, has been named to the NCCAA (National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association) All-American first-team for women's soccer. This is the second year in a row that she has been named to the NCCAA All-American first-team.

Last week, Thornton was named to the NAIA All-American honorable mention team for the third year in a row. It is the fifth award this season she has earned in the postseason as she was All-CCAC first-team, the CCAC Player of the Year, NCCAA All-Region, NCCAA All-American first-team, and NAIA All-American honorable mention. She also earned CCAC and NCCAA National Player of the Week awards this season.

She finished the season with 20 goals, 3 assists, and 43 points while becoming Judson's all-time goals leader with 59. She is also tied for the career lead in points with 137 and helped with one of the biggest wins in program history by hitting the game-winning goal over NCAA Division I Houston Baptist University in a 1-0 Judson win in double overtime.

Oliveira honored: Judson University junior Gustavo Oliveira was named to the NCCAA All-American first-team for men's soccer. It is his first NCCAA All-American award.

This is Oliveira's fourth award this season as he was All-CCAC first-team, NCCAA All-Region, NCCAA All-American first-team, and NAIA All-American honorable mention. He led Judson with 9 goals, 21 assists, and 39 points. He had a career-high 6 assists against Cincinnati Christian this season and was named the CCAC and NCCAA National Player of the Week once.
