Winter weather advisory

It's not officially winter yet, but it certainly feels like it with heavy snow pelting the region.

On the roads, commutes are taking hours with the ice-snow juggernaut turning highways into parking lots. At O'Hare International Airport, more than 300 flights were canceled, and those lucky enough to leave this weather in the rearview were facing an average two-hour delay. Midway canceled 50 flights and faced the same delays.

At Midway International Airport, delays are about one hour with minimal cancellations.

Chicago Aviation Department officials advised travelers to call their airlines in advance.

Today's snowstorm started in early afternoon and is expected to continue until after midnight, leaving a possible 7 inches on the ground.

Wednesday's forecast will provide some relief with partly sunny skies and a high of 25 degrees.
