Big second lifts Wolves

The Chicago Wolves used a season-high 4-goal second period to gain the upper hand and never looked back on their way to a 4-1 victory over the San Antonio Rampage on Sunday night at the Allstate Arena.

Wolves goaltender Brent Krahn stopped 22 shots in his Chicago debut, which included holding the Rampage scoreless for the first 50:08 of the game. Krahn was assigned to the Wolves by the Dallas Stars on Friday.

The 26-year-old helped the Wolves (16-10-1-1) regain sole possession of first place in the West Division with 34 points through 28 games and snap a six-game winning streak for eighth-place San Antonio (8-21-0-1).

"We did a lot of things well tonight, and we did a lot of things right tonight," Wolves coach Don Granato said. "I thought this team played better than the team (Rockford IceHogs) that beat us last night. The difference was us. We had better intensity and better focus."
