Silverman called it like she saw it
You might see her at high profile gatherings, such as the annual Interfaith Service or BG Fourth of July Music Extravaganza and fireworks.
She would attend group meetings, any community event and made her writing skills available for any good cause ... she was an old-school perfectionist.
Extremely dedicated, highly intelligent, persistent, professional, willing to share her network and quite opinionated! That was Ruth Gesmer Silverman. She faced an uphill battle with cancer humbly, with courage, dignity and faith. She was a huge proponent of higher educational institutions and entitlement for all minorities victimized by ignorance.
She made a lot of friends and -- as when you stand firm in your goals and philosophy -- some foes along the way. In my opinion, if you truly knew her and understood her allegiances, you may not always have agreed with her, but you respected her diligence.
Cancer is a "beast." Only a strong-willed individual with an inner strength of substance to battle this demon could have put up a challenging fight. That's Ruth! On behalf of all the people she so graciously touched with her literary endeavors, thank you so much!
