Rep. Danny Davis still wants Senate seat

U.S. Rep. Danny K. Davis says he doesn't believe he is mentioned in the federal complaint against Gov. Rod Blagojevich that accuses the governor of trying to sell a vacant U.S. Senate seat.

Davis says he has talked to Blagojevich at least twice since the Nov. 4 elections. He says that after Barack Obama was elected president, he began to hear in political circles that anyone who's serious about filling the Senate seat should contact the governor.

Davis says he talked to Blagojevich on the phone before Thanksgiving and told the governor he would like to fill Obama's vacant seat. Davis said Blagojevich praised Davis' work and said he was on his list.

He also said Blagojevich never made any kind of untoward suggestions.

Davis still wants to serve in the Senate and says if there is a special election for the post, he would be interested in running.
