Jail escapee sentenced to prison

EAST ST. LOUIS -- A Californian with a knack for trying to escape from southwestern Illinois jails 창€” and in one case succeeding 창€” has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison.

Federal jurors in East St. Louis convicted 33-year-old Quawntay "Bosco" Adams of Lancaster, Calif., in July of possessing marijuana with plans to deal it, as well as plotting to escape launder money.

Adams also was found guilty of twice trying to escape from the St. Clair County jail in Belleville in 2004.

Before his two-week trial last summer, Adams already had pleaded guilty to charges that he fled from the Alton City Jail in 2006 using blankets he tied together. He was captured six hours later in Missouri.
