Aurora man gets $500,000 bond for attack

A $500,000 bond has been set for an 18-year-old Aurora man accused of kidnapping and raping a woman last week.

Cedric T. Flax turned himself into police Sunday afternoon. He is charged with unlawful restraint in connection with the attack on a 25-year-old woman late Tuesday, Dec. 9. He remains in the DuPage County jail in Wheaton. More charges are pending, authorities said.

Flax is currently on probation after pleading guilty to theft charges in October. He was charged in September with theft and criminal trespass to a residence, but the trespassing charges where dropped.

In the latest case, a woman told police a man entered her unlocked sport utility vehicle while it was parked at a gas station in the 300 block of West Galena Boulevard in Aurora.

The woman had left the car unattended when she entered the gas station, she told police. When she returned, a man hiding in her back seat grabbed her around the neck and put a handgun to her head, police said.

The woman told police her attacker ordered her to a far east-side apartment complex where she was sexually assaulted. She was then forced to drive back to the city's west side where her attacker held her against her will at his apartment before releasing her around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The woman was treated and released from an Aurora hospital, police said.

Flax is slated to appear in court again Jan. 12.
