EIU tops WIU 63-56

CHARLESTON -- T.J. Marion had ten points to lead Eastern Illinois to a second-period comeback victory over Western Illinois on Saturday.

Marion also had eight rebounds for Eastern Illinois (3-6) and a game-high seven assists. Edin Suljic came off the bench to add ten points and Jay Smith had nine points, including a trio of 3-pointers.

Western Illinois (4-6) led 35-26 in the first period, but the Panthers came back after the break to outscore the Leathernecks 37-21 in the second period.

Josh Rivers led the Leathernecks with 24 points, including six 3-pointers. David DuBois had 12 points and James Granstra added eight rebounds.

Eastern Illinois shooting improved from 34.5 percent in the first to 70 percent in the second, while Western Illinois shooting fell off to 36 percent in the second after reaching 70 percent in the first.
