Don't lose sight of town's purpose

The village of Campton Hills was created because of a simple wish to not be annexed by the city of Elgin. Unfortunately, those who voted this village into existence did not think about what kind of cost the village would create for the people within its boundaries. Just to decrease police response time by 10 minutes voters have willingly added a police force that costs roughly $876,000 per year. Not only that, but other village costs get up close to $3.4 million. Do we really want to support another layer of government just to save ourselves from having to wait 10 extra minutes for the police to show up, or to save ourselves from being swallowed by another city? What is to stop the village of Campton Hills form becoming something larger?
