A big 'thank you' to Indian Hill

As the mother of a soldier serving our country this holiday season, I want to express my personal thank you to the kids, staff and parents of Indian Hill Elementary School located in Round Lake Heights.

Indian Hill Elementary School, as part of their Character Counts program, in November focused their energy on being a good citizen and in December they are focusing on caring. They have gone over and above being good citizens and showing how much they care.

The students of Indian Hill decided to write letters and send packages of goodies to some of the troops serving overseas this holiday season. Through a pictorial, a former student of Indian Hill who is currently serving in the Middle East, was introduced to the students at their November assembly. Following the assembly the students wrote letters and drew pictures to send to the troops. During these hard economic times they also collected and shipped 24 boxes of items the soldiers can use and enjoy this holiday season.

I know my son misses home, especially during the holidays, so this type of gift from his elementary school will mean more to him than just about any other gift he has received during his lifetime. All of the soldiers he is serving with will enjoy the letters, cards and gifts too. I know when my son comes home he will thank the students in person but I wanted to express my thanks to the kids, parents and staff, especially Jamie Firfer and Dana Pfanzelter, for the time, money and effort everyone put into giving this year. As a mother knowing others care is my perfect gift.

Thank you and happy holidays, Indian Hill Elementary School!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
