Round Lake Beach trustee returns

Round Lake Beach officials voted unanimously Tuesday to bring back former trustee Thomas Smith to replace trustee Gina Miosi, who resigned on Dec. 8.

Smith was a Round Lake Beach trustee for 10 years before resigning in 2007 due to work commitments, officials at Round Lake Beach said Friday.

Smith said his work issues have lightened, and he now has the time to serve to the board

"I now have the time to devote to being an effective trustee," he said in a press release. "I feel that I still have a lot to contribute to our village."

Smith has been a Round Lake Beach resident since 1986, and said "the ability to help make good and sound decisions for our village is important to me."

Miosi resigned during the same meeting, claiming she is moving out of the community due to job commitments. A trustee since 1995, she has served as the alternate director of CenCom and on the Cultural and Civic Center Foundation Board.

"Trustee Miosi will be greatly missed by the board and the community," said Mayor Rich Hill.
