Devine joins Chicago law firm
Former Cook County State's Attorney Richard A. Devine will become a partner in a prominent Chicago law firm, leading its white-collar defense and commercial litigation practice. Meckler Bulger Tilson Marick & Pearson LLP announced Friday that Devine would join the firm beginning Monday. A company statement praised Devine's "extensive trial experience and distinguished career as one of Cook County's longest-serving state's attorneys." A longtime attorney in private practice and former aide to then-State's Attorney Richard Daley, Devine was elected in 1996 to the first of his three four-year terms as state's attorney. Meckler Bulger Tilson is a nationally recognized law firm whose attorneys specialize in a wide range of litigation and trial proceedings. Also joining as a partner in the white collar unit, the firm announced, will be James Knibbs, who was most recently head of the Cook County state's attorney's white-collar crime unit.
