Burnett, Yankees reach 5-year deal

NEW YORK -- The New York Yankees have reeled in another top pitcher, reaching agreement with A.J. Burnett on a five-year contract.

Burnett won a career-high 18 games with Toronto this season and then became a free agent.

Earlier this week, the Yankees reached a deal with ace CC Sabathia for seven years and $161 million.

Burnett's agreement was confirmed Friday by the office of his agent, Darek Braunecker. It was first reported by foxsports.com.
