Police investigate tollway crash near Elgin

Traffic backed up on Interstate 90 near Elgin Wednesday afternoon after an eastbound car appeared to skid into oncoming traffic in the tollway's westbound lanes and collide with a semitrailer about a half-mile west of Randall Road.

There were no immediate reports of injuries, and Illinois State Police were on the scene investigating the crash, which occurred shortly after 2 p.m.

The collision involved a Mercury Montego with Minnesota license plates and a truck labeled as belonging to Meyers Trucking out of Garden Prairie, Ill.
