Car, school bus collide near Elk Grove Village

Illinois State Police officials said no one was injured when a car hit the back of a small school bus at the corner of Higgins and Arlington Heights roads near Elk Grove Village.

State police officials said a school bus was parked at a red light at the intersection when the car hit the rear end of the bus. Officials said students were on board the bus when the accident took place, but the students were checked out and released by paramedics at the scene.

Officials from the school district also arrived on the scene to assess any injuries, state police officials said. However, officials did not know the school district involved.

Police said ambulances and fire officials were called to the scene as a precautionary measure to assist and to help the injured if there were any.

Initially, two lanes on Higgins Road were closed while emergency officials work at the scene. The lanes have since been reopened.
