Free coin appraisal at Arlington Heights bank

The Peoples' Bank of Arlington Heights will host a free coin appraisal from 9 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, Dec. 13 at the bank's new 1104 S. Arlington Heights Road location. Professional numismatist Ron Beckstrom of Golden Rule Coins will be on hand for one-on-one consultations.

Beckstrom will review single coins or entire collections. "I am always happy to have a chance to meet with people and provide my evaluation on their coins," he said. Beckstrom's specialty is in U.S. coin appraisals, but he will provide guidance on currency and foreign coins as well.

Beckstrom is a life-long coin collecting enthusiast and has spent the last few years operating Golden Rule Coins. He appears on behalf of his business almost daily at various libraries, banks, community events and other locations to share his expertise.

No appointments are needed but the duration on the sessions with Beckstrom will be dictated by the number of people waiting. Beckstrom indicated that if someone needs more than a short visit and there is a line of people waiting he will make a private appointment to follow-up. "I can share the information that most people are looking for in just a few minutes," he explained. "But if someone has a larger collection, or has special pieces that need further review I will simply set up a time to visit them at their convenience and provide a more detailed analysis for them."
