Man arrested in Arlington Heights bank robbery

Arlington Heights police have arrested a man in connection with the robbery Thursday afternoon of the Chase Bank at 43 E. Golf Road in Arlington Heights.

David Schock, 23, who is apparently homeless with no known address, was charged Friday with one count of bank robbery, a felony offense. He will be held without bond until his next appearance Wednesday at U.S. District Court in Chicago.

Bank staff gave police a description of the robber and within about a half-hour of the 2:30 p.m. robbery, a plainclothes officer found a suspect about a half-mile from the bank, Cmdr. Kenneth Galinski said Friday. The man was turned over to the FBI Friday morning, he said.

Police said about $6,000 was taken in the robbery.

Police and FBI officials were continuing to investigate Friday as Schock appeared in court.

Schock appeared to have been moving from place to place, living with friends, and has no known address of his own, FBI spokesman Ross Rice said.

As banks are federally insured institutions, all bank robberies fall within the jurisdiction of the FBI. The bureau investigates these robberies in conjunction with local law enforcement, Rice said.
