Help Cook County find criminals

You will be able to help police track down Cook County's most wanted through a new cable TV program, which launched Thursday.

Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart and Comcast are collaborating on the show called "Police Blotter on Demand," where area residents get the chance to help track down wanted criminals and offer information for new leads.

Hosted by Dart, the show will allow more than a million Chicago area television viewers to learn about six high-profile criminals per show.

In the first show, Dart profiles the fugitives who've committed crimes including sex offenses, attempted murder, armed robbery and animal cruelty.

"We're always looking for new and innovative ways to improve our operation," said Dart in a statement. "This partnership with Comcast provides our investigators with yet another tool to capture those most wanted. Being able to reach millions of Comcast viewers, who can click on this channel at any time, is an asset we are incredibly happy to have."

The show is available anytime to Comcast digital customers, who must press 1 for on demand programming, select local and then select police blotter. A new show will come out about every three months, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office.

There are more than 43,500 active warrants on file in Cook County, so Dart has plenty of material for the show.
