Judge: Drug case against Harvey cop can go forward

A judge in Chicago has upheld charges against a former police officer from the suburb of Harvey who's charged with agreeing to ride shotgun on a cocaine deal.

Archie Stallworth is among 17 defendants charged in a federal sting operation aimed at lawmen who hired out to provide security for drug dealers.

Stallworth sought to have the charges dropped. But U.S. Magistrate Judge Sidney Schenkier on Thursday upheld them after seeing a photo of Stallworth carrying duffel bags filled with fake cocaine.

Defense attorney Benjamin Starks says the explanation would come out at trial.
