Fire truck collision injures woman

A minivan driven by a 40-year-old Palatine woman collided with an Arlington Heights fire truck Wednesday afternoon.

The collision occurred at 12:54 p.m. at the intersection of Fremont Street and Pine Avenue, Arlington Heights police Sgt. Bob Murray said. The fire truck was not responding to a call.

The intersection was described as having no traffic control signs or signals, but the fire truck appeared to have had the right of way, Murray said.

The woman driving the minivan was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, but her identity could not be released and her condition remained unknown Wednesday night.

A firefighter in the fire truck went to the hospital later but was treated and released.

The incident remained under investigation and no charges had been filed Wednesday night, Murray said.
