Bus with students in crash in north-central Illinois
LOSTANT _ Authorities say a chartered bus carrying students in northern Illinois has been in an accident with a semitrailer, and people have been taken to hospitals as a precaution.
State Police spokeswoman Paris Ervin says 10 ambulances were sent to the site of the accident Wednesday night on Interstate 39 near the village of Lostant, but she didn't immediately have information on injuries.
A dispatcher at the LaSalle County sheriff's office says students went to three area hospitals, but she didn't know the number.
Ervin says at least two vehicles, including the bus, were involved in the accident, which occurred on an icy road. But she says it's too early to speculate on the cause of the crash.
The interstate has been closed. Lostant is located about 50 miles north of Bloomington.
