Downers Grove filmmaker unveiling holiday flick

Downers Grove resident Cathy Rubey has written and produced her first movie. It's called "Holiday Baggage" and it's about how the holidays and the birth of a grandson impact the lives of an estranged married couple on the verge of divorce. The movie was shot in Downers Grove and features many local citizens in the cast. The Midwest premiere is scheduled for next week. Go to baggagethefilm.com.

'Il Postino'

The 1994 highly poetic Italian romance "The Postman" returns to the silver screen for one night only, sponsored by the After Hours Film Society, a not-for-profit movie appreciation organization. The film concerns a simple postman who meets the amazing poet Neruda and discovers his own inner amazingness. A discussion will be conducted after the screening. Tickets cost $9 ($5 for members).
