Paterno back at work after hip surgery
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. --- Penn State coach Joe Paterno is back at work a week after undergoing hip-replacement surgery.
A team spokesman says the 81-year-old Paterno held a squad meeting Sunday night after players returned from Thanksgiving break.
The school had said he was already reviewing game film and setting practice schedules as No. 6 Penn State gets ready for the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 against a still-undetermined opponent. The Big Ten champions resume practice Friday.
The team doctor called the Nov. 23 surgery a success. Paterno hurt the hip in late August while demonstrating an onside kick at practice. The injury forced him to spend the last seven games of the regular season coaching from the press box.
