Vikings to rally at Geneva High

The entire Geneva community is invited to cheer on and celebrate the Geneva High School varsity football team, which played in the Class 7A state championship this weekend.

Geneva High School will hold a short assembly at 7:45 a.m. today, inside the contest gymnasium.

The Vikings lost Saturday to East St. Louis, 14-33 in the downstate game that decided the Class 7A champions. The team entered the tournament undefeated, with 13 wins and no losses. Last season, East St. Louis was the only team to beat the Vikings in the Geneva school's only loss. The football team will be awarded with the runner-up trophy today before students start classes.
