Blagojevich names new deputy governor

SPRINGFIELD -- Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has appointed a deputy governor to serve as adviser for economic development, business regulation and environmental affairs.

Dean Martinez had been secretary of Blagojevich's Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. He'll advise the Democratic governor on creating jobs, building infrastructure and the environment.

While at the Professional Regulation Department, Martinez worked on Blagojevich's regulatory reform, streamlined licensing and set up online renewals and license look-ups on the agency Web site.

Taking Martinez's place is Michael McRaith. He's been director of the agency's division of insurance.

McRaith had been making $133,273. Martinez was making $135,081.
