Des Plaines man killed in Lake County tollway crash
A Des Plaines man died Thursday in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 near the Wisconsin border, Lake County authorities said Friday.
Parulkumar Shah, 47, was alone and driving north in a minivan when he lost control and hit a guardrail near Russell Road in the Winthrop Harbor area, Lake County Coroner Richard Keller said.
Shah was pronounced dead on the scene around 10 p.m.
"It would appear that alcohol may have contributed to the crash," Keller said. "It had been reported to state police that he was driving erratically on the tollway."
Though an autopsy was pending, Keller said it appears Shah died of multiple injuries. He said toxicology tests would be performed Monday.
Illinois State Police are investigating.
