Barrington tops Libertyville 49-46

Barrington 49, Libertyville 46: Sam Massarani came off the bench to score 10 points and made a big steal in the final minutes as the Fillies (4-0) clinched at least a tie for the championship of the Bison Classic.

Barrington will play Crystal Lake South (3-1) at 1:30 p.m. today.

Sophomore Sarah Mass added 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 points and 1 blocked shot for the Fillies while Abby Kirchoff had 10 points. Emily Harris chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist.

"Sarah (Mass) is playing great all-around," said Fillies coach Babbi Barreiro. "She is doing everything on both ends of the floor. Sam (Massarani) once again had a great game off the bench and she made some big plays for us down the stretch. She has had a great tournament for us."

Massarani converted three 3-pointer while Anna and Abby Kirchoff each had one.

"We didn't shoot real well," Barreiro added. "Libertyville played hard and it wasn't really a pretty win for us. But the kids never gave up. Our defense wasn't that great. But the kids battled and hung on. We've had different kids stepping up at different times."
