Lombard recycler gets state grant

State officials say they're awarding about $760,000 in grants for 17 recycling projects in northeastern Illinois.

The money will go communities, universities and businesses.

The funding is called the Illinois Recycling Grant Program. The goal is to divert recyclable commodities form Illinois landfills and expand recycling collection.

The most amount of money is going to Supply-Chain Services Inc. which will hire three new employees to expand computer and electronic recycling. The Lombard-based company will get about $120,000.

Other recipients include the Lincoln Park Zoo which plans to increase collection of aluminum cans, plastic containers and paper. The Chicago zoo is getting about $31,000.
