Open Door to honor five at breakfast

On Dec. 1 every year, the world comes together to commemorate World AIDS Day. This year is the 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day and Open Door Clinic will observe Dec. 1 with a breakfast at 8 a.m. at the Hotel Baker in St. Charles.

Honored at the breakfast will be state Rep. Linda Chapa LaVia; Danise Habun, executive director of Hanover Township Mental Health; Love & Action Bill and Marilyn Berg; and Karen Smith, Open Door Clinic Speaker's Bureau.

Leadership has been chosen by the World AIDS Campaign as the theme for World AIDS Day 2007 and 2008. This theme will continue to be promoted with the slogan "Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise." The people honored this World AIDS Day epitomize leadership. Without leadership, volunteerism and caring one cannot turn this epidemic around.
