Lake County men deny selling drugs
Two Lake County men charged with selling drugs to undercover police officers pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Lake County Circuit Court.
Steven Brozek, 19, and Michael Longfield, 17, were arrested Oct. 6 by agents of the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Brett Henne said Brozek, of 1262 Eric Lane, Lake Zurich, is charged with selling LSD, Xanax and MDMA in a series of transactions.
An undercover officer bought 10 does of LSD from Brozek on June 10, Henne said, 10 more on June 16 and 26 on July 25. Police said Brozek again met with the officer on Oct. 6 and sold him eight doses of Xanax, four MDMA pills and a gram of powdered MDMA.
He was arrested at that point, as was Longfield, of 28952 Niblick Court, Mundelein, who Henne said had driven Brozek to meet with the officer.
Circuit Judge George Bridges told Brozek he faces a mandatory prison sentence of six to 30 years, and Long field faces up to 15 years in prison.
Both are scheduled to go on trial Feb. 2, and Bridges ordered both to return to court Dec. 9.
