Schools superintendent serves on task force

SPRINGFIELD _ The Illinois State Superintendent of Education will serve on a presidential transition task force.

Christopher Koch and education officials from around the country will look at issues that the next U.S. Secretary of Education should address in the first 100 days.

The group is called the Council of Chief State School Officers Presidential Transition Task Force.

The first meeting will be held Dec. 1 in Washington, D.C.

Koch says its an honor to be in the group.

He has been became superintendent in 2006. He has been with the Illinois State Board of Education since 1994.
