Help victims of domestic violence

The Community Crisis Center wants to thank the community for its participation in Domestic Violence Awareness activities during the month of October. A variety of opportunities were provided for people to increase their knowledge about domestic violence and the resources available at the Crisis Center: Displays at area libraries, the annual Partners in Peace Breakfast, a focus on Domestic Violence in 14 faith communities, banner signing and collection of nightwear for shelter residents by Sherman Hospital employees, an all day conference for faith communities, a Stand Up/Don't Stand By event at Gail Borden Library, and Feast for Peace for which Van's, Bookers, and Paul's restaurants donated a percentage of profits on designated days.

Domestic Violence most often takes place in homes, behind closed doors, but it affects the whole community. It threatens the safety and well being of individuals and families. It perpetuates behaviors and attitudes that lead to violence on the streets. The good news is that there is help. There is hope. Thank you for helping us get this message out and for continuing to partner with the Community Crisis Center through out the year.
