Man held on $1 million bond in Bloomington death

BLOOMINGTON -- A McLean County judge has ordered a man from Normal held on $1 million bond in the stabbing death of a Bloomington man.

Authorities say 22-year-old Joshua McGuire made a brief court appearance Friday afternoon during which a public defender was appointed to represent him.

McGuire was arrested Thursday and charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the Nov. 16 death of Joshua Embry. The 26-year-old was stabbed in the chest during a fight on the street outside a tavern.

In addition to the murder counts, McGuire also faces residential burglary charges filed in September. Police say that during that incident, he was shot in both knees by an armed resident at a home in Bloomington.
