Hip injury won't stop Bulls' Rose

A brilliant second-half performance by Derrick Rose on Friday was cut short by a hip injury. Rose scored 23 of his 25 after halftime, leading the Bulls to a 115-110 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

But he had to leave the floor with 1:13 remaining after taking a knee to the front of his right hip from Warriors forward Corey Maggette, who was driving to the basket at the time. Following the game, Rose insisted he would be OK to play in Sunday's game at Denver.

"Man, it was a sharp pain that was there for a long time, but I'm all right now," Rose said. "I've just got to ice it and massage it. I'm not missing that game."

The Bulls held a short practice in San Francisco on Saturday, which involved little more than talking through plays, before flying to Denver. Rose was sore but expects to play. Forward Luol Deng (sore left hamstring), who has missed the past two contests, will be a game-time decision.

Before the injury, Rose had scored 8 straight Bulls points, mostly on pull-up jumpers, a relatively new weapon for the rookie point guard.

"We're big Rose fans here, love to watch him play, love to watch him get better in games," Golden State coach Don Nelson said after Friday's game. "Wow, what a show he put on in the second half. He's an incredibly talented point guard, right up there with the best of them."
