Three maxims describe election
It appears, post election, that we, as citizens that form an electorate, may have to revise the oft-repeated maxim: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
Our election results should propel us to write a new maxim that states that wisdom found, even in the third round, is still wisdom. From the E.U., to Kenya, to the Middle East and points further, we have been found to have grown in wisdom. It appears that our democracy is a self-righting ship. I'm prouder than I've been in a decade. It is, to me, a brighter, more hopeful and egalitarian world. Perhaps that maxim has already been written in "So soon old; so late smart."
There is an old saying from the French, that every country gets the government it deserves. Another worthy maxim.
