'Spamalot' moves up closing on Broadway
NEW YORK _ Some Broadway shows can't wait to say goodbye.
"Monty Python's Spamalot" will now close Jan. 11 -- a week earlier than the musical announced last month.
The Mike Nichols-directed adaptation of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" has grossed more than $175 million in New York since opening in March 2005 at the Shubert Theatre. It has been seen by more than 2 million people.
And the Shubert already has a new tenant: a revival of Noel Coward's "Blithe Spirit," starring Rupert Everett, Christine Ebersole, Jayne Atkinson and Angela Lansbury. It begins performances Feb. 26, with an opening date to be set.
