Two accidents on Route 83 in Elmhurst

Police continue to investigate two accidents that took place minutes apart on Route 83 near St. Charles Road in Elmhurst.

Police officials said four cars were involved in the two accidents that occurred minutes apart at about 5:30 a.m.

Dispatchers added it remains unclear what triggered the accidents and how they are connected.

Dispatchers said there were no injuries in the incidents.

Two lanes were closed on Route 83 while the accident was cleaned up. Police directed traffic around the incident for about 45 minutes, they said.
