Hanover Park police probe woman's death
Hanover Park police are investigating a potential homicide of a 56-year-old woman found incapacitated in the parking lot outside a discount store at 5662 Arlington Drive.
Vatisla Thakkar, 56, of Hanover Park was found near the entrance of the store in a strip mall at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police and rescue officials responded to the scene and the woman was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
At first, police said there was no obvious indication of foul play. However officials from the Cook County Medical Examiners office said the woman was stabbed and that foul play is suspected in the killing.
An autopsy is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Hanover Park police are also expected to issue a statement about the potential homicide at about 8:00 a.m.
