Wolves slip past Lake Erie
CLEVELAND -The Chicago Wolves erupted for 5 straight goals and held off a late rally ck to earn a victory over the Lake Erie Monsters at Quicken Loans Arena Wednesday night.
Right wing Joey Crabb. woith a goal and assist, and and defenseman Jamie Rivers with 2 assists led the way for the Wolves, while five different players found the back of the net.
Lake Erie opened scoring, 4:33 into the first period with a marker from right wing Brian Willsie, before left wing Jordan LaVallee kicked off the Wolves' offensive explosion when he flipped a shot past Lake Erie goaltender Jason Bacashihua just under two minutes later.
Crabb added a shorthanded goal at 11:52 of the first period to make the score 2-1, and the visitors increased their lead to 3-1 when right wing Joe Motzko blasted a shot past Bacashihua at 17:15 of the second period.
Less than two minutes later, center Matt Anderson sent a one-timer deep into the net to put the Wolves up 4-1.
Center Riley Holzapfel scored on a rebound 70 seconds into the final period.
