Round Lake woman hurt in Mundelein crash
A Round Lake woman was badly hurt when her car was struck by a gravel truck Wednesday, authorities said.
The accident occurred about 8 a.m. at the intersection of Routes 60/83 and Hawley Street in Mundelein.
The unidentified woman was headed south on Route 60/83 in a Honda Accord when she made a left turn in front of the northbound truck, Mundelein police said.
Both vehicles had green lights, police said.
The woman was flown by emergency helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with life-threatening injuries, Mundelein firefighters said. No one else was in her car.
No additional information was available about her condition or injuries.
The truck driver was not hurt.
The intersection was shut down for about 45 minutes after the crash, firefighters said.
Countryside Fire Protection District firefighters assisted on the scene.
Mundelein police were investigating the crash. No tickets were issued.
