Naperville Christmas trees catch fire
Two artificial Christmas trees caught fire inside a Naperville holiday store Tuesday evening, producing a large amount of smoke and possibly damaging a large amount of the store's contents, firefighters said.
Twenty-five firefighters responded to a 911 call from American Sales, 676 Amersale Drive. around 4:51 p.m. Upon arrival, the store manager reported that employees armed with portable fire extinguishers extinguished the fire and that all employees were accounted for and safe.
It took firefighters 90 minutes to clear the smoke from the building. The fire damaged the two trees, some decorations and electrical cords supplying equipment in the area, officials said.
A damage estimate was not immediately available. No one was injured. Officials expect the store to be open for business Wednesday.
