Decision on ISU coach's future will wait
NORMAL -- Illinois State University's athletic director says no decision on Redbird football coach Denver Johnson's future will be made until after the season.
Illinois State is 3-7 and closes its season Saturday against Southern Illinois. It will be the Redbirds' second straight losing season.
ISU Athletic Director Sheahon Zenger says Johnson will be evaluated on wins and losses, as well as recruiting and the health of the school's football program.
Johnson says he isn't worried about whether he'll keep his job because the decision isn't his to make.
Johnson is in his ninth season at Illinois State. The Redbirds have had four winning seasons in that time.
